1 August 09, Ede (BWA) -- Two conventions and unions have been admitted into membership within
the Baptist World Alliance (BWA).
The Argentine Baptist Association (ABA) and the Uganda Baptist Convention (UBC) 
were accepted by the General Council of the BWA upon the recommendation of the
Membership
Committee during the General Council meeting in Ede, Netherlands, on Friday, July
31.
The ABA was formed in August 2005 and comprises 40 churches with approximately 5,000
members. Carlos Bollati is president, Raul Scialabba, vice president, and Jorge 
Perez, treasurer.

BWA makes important constitutional changes 03 Aug 2009
Ede (BWA) -- The General Council of the Baptist World Alliance voted to amend its
constitution and bylaws on Friday, July 31.
As of now, the BWA will, for the first time, have a first vice president, and the
Executive Committee of the BWA will comprise 25 members, reduced from more than 
60 persons.
The new Executive Committee now has greater oversight responsibilities, including
"overseeing the development and implementation of the overall program of the BWA"
and "generally overseeing the financial affairs of the BWA."

Speakers chosen for Baptist World Congress 03 Aug 2009
Ede (BWA) -- The Congress Program Committee of the Baptist World Alliance has confirmed
the main speakers for the 20th Baptist World Congress to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii,
next year.
BWA President David Coffey will speak on the opening night. Other speakers throughout
the week include Karl Johnson, general secretary of the Jamaica Baptist Union and
a member of the General Council (GC) of the BWA; Paul Msiza, president of the All
Africa Baptist Fellowship, general secretary of the Baptist Convention of South

Billy Graham endorses BWA 400th celebration 03 Aug 2009
Ede (BWA) -- Evangelist Billy Graham sent a letter of congratulations to the Baptist
World Alliance upon its celebration of the 400th anniversary of the founding of 
the Baptist movement.
"How I wish I could be with you as I have so often attended BWA meetings over the
years," Graham said in his letter dated July 24, and read to the congregation by
former BWA General Secretary Denton Lotz at a special 400th anniversary service
