22 Aug 2009ARSO, KOMPAS.com — Sarasehan pemerintah pusat dengan Dewan Adat dan masyarakat Keerom Papua, Kamis (20/8) di Arso, berlangsung penuh semarak. Para peserta melontarkan semua unek-uneknya terkait berbagai permasalahan di Papua.
Teriakan-teriakan Papua Merdeka beberapa kali terdengar bersahut antara peserta dan masyarakat. Mereka berpendapat tuntutan orang Papua hanya satu yaitu "M" atau Merdeka.
Sarasehan dipimpin Dirjen Kesbangpol Departemen Dalam Negeri Ahmad Tanri Bali, Ketua Dewan Adat Keerom Hubertus Kwambre, Sekjen Aliansi Mahasiswa Pegunungan Tengah Papua Se-Indonesia, dan mediator Pastor John Jonga.

Baptists aid typhoon victims in Taiwan
20 Aug 2009Washington, DC (BWA) -- Baptists in Taiwan and around the world are assisting victims
of Typhoon Morakot, which made landfall in the southern part of the island just
before midnight on Friday, August 7.
By Tuesday, August 18, 126 people have been confirmed dead, but government officials
expect the death toll to rise to more than 500.

Baptists hold 400th anniversary celebration in Ukraine
20 Aug 2009Washington, DC (BWA) -- The 400th anniversary of the founding of the Baptist movement
will be celebrated in Kiev, Ukraine, by Baptists in Eastern and Central Europe,
from August 27-29.
Referred to as a Jubilee conference, the event is an all-Slavic pastoral conference
dedicated to the celebration of 400 years of Baptist faith and witness, and is being
sponsored by the Euro-Asiatic Federation of Unions of Evangelical Christians-Baptists,
