The Baptist World Alliance will host the 20th Baptist World Congress in Honolulu,
Hawai'i, from July 28 to August 1, 2010, at the Hawai'i Convention Center. We expect
more than 10,000 people from more than 100 countries.
Each participant receives a professionally printed Program Book that includes resource
information about the various programs and activities that are to take place, including
the complete convention schedule and details of events.
Advertising space is made available in the Program Book.

Washington, DC (BWA) --The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Central Africa
is bracing for a possible volcanic eruption.
Mount Nyamuragira in eastern DRC started spewing lava on January 2, threatening
residents, wildlife, livestock and crops on or near the mountain. The lava flows
are not known to have threatened large populated areas, but there are fears that
a more massive eruption is imminent. Wildlife, especially chimpanzees, in the
Virunga National Park, where the volcano is located, is especially at risk.

Washington, DC (BWA) --Baptist World Alliance (BWA) General Secretary Neville Callam
sent a letter of support to the "Baptist family in Malaysia."
The letter, sent on January 14, was in response to the torching of at least one
church and attacks upon several others in the wake of a court ruling that allows
Christians to use the name "Allah" for God. At least 10 church buildings, one of
them Baptist, were attacked, damaged, or vandalized.

The 20th Baptist World Congress will be held in Honolulu, Hawai'i, from July 28 to August 1, 2010, at the Hawai'i Convention Center.
Baptist World Congresses are held every five years and are the
largest international gatherings of Baptist Christians. More than
10,000 Baptists from more than 100 countries are expected in Hawaii.
The Baptist World Alliance will be accrediting media persons who may
wish to attend and cover the event. This goes for editors, journalists,
photographers, bloggers, and film crews.
