Baptist church damaged in Iraq explosion

Washington, DC (BWA) --First Baptist Church of Baghdad in Iraq was damaged by an
explosion less than half a kilometer or about one third of a mile from the church
building.
The incident occurred on the morning of January 26 after a suicide bomber drove 
an 18-wheel truck with explosives into a crowded intersection, killing several
bystanders.
The pastor, workers and children at a kindergarten school at the church were not
physically harmed, but the Baptist church building suffered serious damage.

BWA statement on alleged kidnapping of children in Haiti16 Feb 2010
The Baptist World Alliance has received a number of inquiries concerning the alleged
kidnapping of children in Haiti by a group of missionaries from two Baptist
congregations
in the state of Idaho in the United States.
The BWA wishes to assure its member bodies, the media and the public that neither
this group of missionaries nor their churches are affiliated with the Baptist World
Alliance or with any of its member bodies.

Washington, DC (BWA) --The situation in Haiti remains desperate, according to the
Baptist World Aid (BWAid) Rescue24 team that has been in the country since January
15, three days after a massive earthquake devastated much of the island nation.
Latest estimates put the death toll at 200,000; approximately 70,000 have already
been buried in mass graves.  More than one million Haitians were left homeless. 
Between 60 and 80 percent of the buildings in Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital, which
