Washington (BWA) -- The Baptist World Alliance (BWA) has extended condolences to
the people of Poland on the tragic plane crash that killed more than 90 national
leaders and officials, including Poland's president and his wife.
General Secretary Neville Callam, in his letter to Baptists in Poland, expressed
"deep regret" and stated that "the entire Baptist family from around the world 
grieves with the Polish people, and especially with our Baptist sisters and brothers,
over your indescribable loss."

BWA deepens ties with the UN26 Apr 2010
Washington (BWA) -- The Baptist World Alliance (BWA) is deepening its commitment
to work with the United Nations. Raimundo Barreto, director of Freedom and Justice
at the BWA, attended meetings at the UN headquarters in New York in the United States
in early April, while other BWA representatives are attending UN meetings in other
countries.
Barreto, who took office on March 1, attended briefings by the Department of Public

Washington (BWA) -- Baptist World Alliance (BWA) leaders have been affected by airline
cancellations due to the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland.
BWA President David Coffey is in the United States and is expected to experience
delays in returning to his home in the United Kingdom. General Secretary Neville
Callam attended a conference in England and was expected to return to the United
States last weekend but has had at least a one week delay to his flight. Emmett

April 30 deadline for Baptist World Congress Media accreditation24 Apr 2010
The 20th Baptist World Congress will be held in Honolulu, Hawai'i, from July 28 
to August 1, 2010, at the Hawai'i Convention Center.
Baptist World Congresses are held every five years and are the largest international
gatherings of Baptist Christians. Baptists from more than 100 countries are expected
in Hawaii.
The Baptist World Alliance will be accrediting media persons who may wish to attend
and cover the event. This goes for journalists, editors, photographers, bloggers,
and film crews.
